It's always been an ambition of mine to visit the most northern settlement in the world and when better than for a celebration of a significant birthday. So armed with a bag of cameras, a guide armed with a rifle and a lifelong friend, my little adventure was good to go. 

Summertime in Svalbard is a far cry from the frozen expanses of the winter months. 24 hour daylight replaces the prospect of a fleeting view of the Northern Lights but it reveals the mining history of the town.
